Ashley 4th and 5th graders learn how to make Hummus with teacher Mr. Zwick.
Ashley students also have helped get ready for a parent breakfast with a morning announcement they prepared about making hummus and a corn bean salad. All this goes into the movie they helped create that was featured at a Parent Breakfast about how to make hummus.
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup garbanzo beans (chickpeas)
- 1/8 lemon
- 1 teaspoon olive oil Salt
- Pepper Whole wheat crackers or pita bread
Directions:
- Put 1/4 cup of garbanzo beans in a sandwich bag with a zipper seal.
- Add 1/8 lemon, 1 teaspoon olive oil, salt and pepper to taste.
- Remove excess air from bag and seal well.
- Mash beans between fingers until smooth.
- Snip off bottom corner of bag and use to squeeze hummus onto pita bread or whole wheat crackers.
- Eat and enjoy!
Healthy Eating Tip! Eat a variety of healthy foods by eating seeds! Beans (seeds) are high in protein and fiber. Make hummus dip for your healthy snack!

Partes de las Plantas: Semillas Salsa de Hummus(garbanzo) Porci n: 1/4 taza
- 1/4 taza de garbanzos
- 1/8 lim n
- 1 cucharita de aceite de oliva
- Sal
- Pimienta
- Galletas saladas de trigo o pan pita (pita bread)
Instrucciones: Ponga la 1/4 taza de garbanzos en una bolsa de pl stico para emparedados, con cierre autom tico. A ada el 1/8 lim n, 1 cucharilla de aceite de oliva, sal, pimienta a gusto. Saque el aire de la bolsa y ci rrela bien. Desmenuce los garbanzos con los dedos hasta que formen una masa suave. 5. Rasgue la punta inferior de la bolsa y vac e el hummus sobre un pan pita o galletas saladas de trigo. 6. Coma y disfrute! Al comer semillas usted esta comiendo una variedad de alimentos saludables!Los frijoles (semillas) tienen un alto nivel de prote nas y fibra.Prepara Hummus (salsa de garbanzos) para un bocadillo saludable!
